Who Knew? Bay Farm Pickup Softball

Leydecker Park at noon on Saturdays is apparently the place to play.

Cruising past you can often spot a softball game underway.

Who are these adults out there batting the ball around, no uniforms in sight, and how are they connected to one another? Is it a family reunion? game? Or some informal employee softball league?

Well it could be all of the above, but if it is between noon and 3 p.m. on Saturday, it is apparently a pickup softball game advertised on craigslist that even has its own Facebook page and a listing on Yelp.

Their craigslist posting says they're looking for more players (women and men) and that it is totally free to play. Just bring cleats and gloves. Bats and balls are provided. Show up at 11 a.m. to warm up.

They're looking for "players of all types" according to their craiglist ad.

Do you know of other pick-up games around town like this? Baseball, touch football, soccer, basketball, street hockey?
