Help Choose Alameda's 13 Cutest Pets!

How cute is your pet? That cute? Enter him or her (or possibly it) in the photo contest under way by Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS).

The winners, 13 remarkable Alameda companion animals, will appear on the 2012 FAAS calendar. Along with all pets entered in the contest, they will also help raise funds to to care for Alameda’s shelter animals and adopt them into loving new homes.

There's a $10 donation to enter the contest. Then you, and your pet's fan club, can vote for a winner, at $1 per vote (in $5 increments). The 25 photos with the most votes will be reviewed by a panel of judges, and 13 will be chosen to appear on the first 2013 FAAS calendar, to be sold this fall.

FAAS has helped more than 500 homeless pets since taking over management of the Alameda Animal Shelter on Jan. 1, 2012. The group hopes to raise at least $5,000 through the photo contest to support its efforts.
