As a small business owner I have learned how important it is to use our talents and strengths in our business. That seems almost too simple – but we all don't always realize how powerful our talents are. When we are good at something, we assume it's easy for everyone.
Last week I was at a meeting and one women in the group said she loved doing spreadsheets and bookkeeping. It was fun for her! I hate doing spreadsheets and bookkeeping. It's not one of my talents. It's the type of thing that I need to delegate to someone else to keep my business running.
A great way to find out what your talents are is to take the online test in the book Strengths Finder 2.0. A new version which is great for business owners is Strength Based Selling. I don't think of my self as a "salesperson," but if you are in business, you are always selling.
According to the test, my talents are positivity, responsibility, empathy, connectedness and focus. I'd love to hear your strengths. Maybe we can use our strengths to help each other!
