Jakki Spicer, Neighbor

Jakki Spicer was born and raised in the Bay Area, but left for college and lived in Massachusetts, New York and Minnesota for over 16 years.  She returned to the Bay Area in 2006, and feels incredibly lucky to have made a home in Alameda.  

Jakki has been a freelance writer for more than 10 years, and has written arts reviews for national and local publications, including ArtUS, Artweek, mnartists.org, Cultural Critique and East Bay Express.  She has a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
