John Eichel, Neighbor

Born in beautiful downtown Burbank, CA, during the Kennedy administration, in a hospital next door to NBC Studios, where the Tonight Show was taped.

Raised in Granada Hills, CA, perhaps best known, sports-wise, for producing quarterback John Elway of Granada Hills HS. (But I went to rival Kennedy HS, not Granada Hills HS, and later attended Cal, not Stanford, where Elway starred...Go Bears!)

I've lived in Alameda since 2000, where Vali Ebert and I raised our son, Kenyon Eichel Ebert. Kenyon was a student-athlete at Alameda HS (Go Hornets!) after attending Edison Elementary and Lincoln Middle School. I'm still involved with the AHS baseball program, announcing and scorekeeping at home games at Lincoln Park. You might also see me in Alameda dog-walking, bike riding and enjoying our beach, good food, and the Alameda Theatre with fellow Alameda resident Helen Chen, who I've been in a wonderful relationship with since 2014.

And yes, I am related to Dr. Jim Eichel of Stanford Health Care (he's my brother). AUSD teacher Terry Eichel is my sister-in-law, and Mia, Trina, and Tori Eichel are my three extraordinary nieces!
