After feeling like a dork for decades about living in the same town as my parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, now that I'm a parent myself raising our child in Alameda, I've rediscovered this great town and am proud to be a Fourth Generation Alamedan on both sides of my family (Garfinkle & Patterson).

I'm not the only one so let's admit it: Alameda is a great place.  Many of us didn't leave, despite our countless declarations that leaving "Mayberry" would be the first thing we'd do after graduating high school.  Busted!

My goal for this blog is to remember/acknowledge events and people that many generations of our families know about.  With any luck, you'll read some of the stories and go "oh yeah...I remember!"  If you know of such a person or event, let me know.

Cheers to all those multi-generation Alameda families.
