2-Alarm Cedar Fire Displaces Residents of Victorian Home

The fire badly damaged the home and the residents have been displaced according to Alameda Fire Department. It spread through the house, damaging the attic, both floors and the attic.

Residents at a home on Cedar Street were displaced after a two-alarm fire this afternoon, a fire captain said.

The fire at a two-story Victorian house was reported at 12:39 p.m. in the 800 block of Cedar Street, Alameda fire Capt. James Colburn said.

He added that a neighbor saw smoke and went to the front door of the house where he found a female occupant inside the smoke-filled home. He was able to rescue her before firefighters arrived at the scene.

The blaze was called under control at 2:37 p.m.

The fire badly damaged the home and the residents have been displaced, he said. It spread through the house, damaging the attic, both floors and the attic.

The displaced residents are staying with family.

Three firefighters suffered minor injuries tackling the blaze and were treated at the house, Colburn said.

Oakland, and Alameda County fire departments assisted.
