Alamedan Debuts New Wine and Food Column

Residents of Alameda already know the hidden treasures that populate the island – especially when it comes to food and wine.

Starting today, The Alamedan will feature “Alameda a la carte,” a monthly column by Denise Shelton.

“I will feature some of what Alameda has to offer by reviewing restaurants, covering what’s going on in home kitchens and kitchen gardens and touching on what’s new and noteworthy in town in the realm of food and wine,” Shelton says in introducing the column. “Push outside your comfort zone and try the unfamiliar. Your new favorite recipe, restaurant or varietal may be just around the corner.”

In Thursday’s inaugural piece, the reviewer offered a restaurant review, her thoughts on cooking from the garden, a recipe for a summer salad and a list of “New and Noteworthy.”

Check out Shelton’s column and even offer her ideas for future pieces at http://thealamedan.org/news/alameda-la-carte.
