Missing Alameda Man's Body Found Near Grand Street Boat Ramp

The 73-year-old man was transported by an AFD ambulance to Alameda Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:50 a.m.

Alameda Police and Fire Departments responded to report of a missing elderly man, whose body was later found floating in the water at the Grand Street Boat Ramp.

Today, at approximately 9:16 a.m., APD received the report of a missing 73-year-old man. While APD was investigating this, a citizen called 911 at 11:16 a.m., reporting a body floating in the water at the Grand Street Boat Ramp.

Both Fire and Police crews responded. An AFD Rescue Swimmer entered the water and quickly brought the male to the nearby dock. He was transported by AFD ambulance to Alameda Hospital, where he was declared deceased at 11:50 a.m.

The man was positively identified as being the same person that had been missing earlier, AFD reports.

There appears to be no indication of foul play and the case is being investigated by the Alameda Police Department Investigations Division / Violent Crimes Unit.
