Police Log: Home Burglars Score Cash, Prescriptions, Electronics, Jewelry

Robbery on Blanding, assault on Brush, and more from Aug. 11 to 18.

Sunday, Aug. 18 

  • Water rescue. Alameda Marine Patrol rescued an individual whose boat capsized in the San Francisco Bay at 5 p.m.
  • Attempted copper theft. Two men, 30 and 22 years old, were arrested at 6:48 a.m. at a business on the 3000 block of Main Street after they reportedly entered the premises intent on stealing copper. One suspect was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Saturday, Aug. 17
  • Probation search yields drugs. A male, 27, on probation, was searched after a suspicious-subject stop at 5:30 p.m. on the 1800 block of Alameda Avenue and found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia containing a usable amount of methamphetamine.

Friday, Aug. 16
  • Shoplifting arrests.Two males, 28 and 25, were arrested at 11:19 p.m. along 2500 Blanding Avenue for suspected theft after a loss-prevention employee at the business reportedly caught them shoplifting. The pair allegedly entered with empty bags, concealed merchandise inside their pockets, backpacks, filled a shopping cart, and exited the store without making any attempt to pay. Drug-related charges were also added by police. 
  • Eggs were thrown and a window broken at a home on the 900 block of Grand Street. Case reported at 9:26 a.m.
  • Graffiti was spray-painted on property on the 1900 block of Oak Street. Case reported at 3:30 p.m. 
Thursday, Aug. 15
  • Residential burglary was reported at 6:46 p.m. on the 2600 block of Bayview Drive with a laptop and jewelry reported missing.
  • After-hours robbery. An employee on the 2500 block of Blanding Avenue refused to let an individual into a store at 11:22 p.m. after closing hours. The suspect then brandished a handgun, entered and forced the individual to open the store safe, took money and fled on foot.
Wednesday, Aug. 14
  • Quarter stealer. An unknown suspect was busted attempting to steal quarters from coin-operated washing machines at 1:30 p.m. along 400 Buena Vista Avenue.
  • Break-up goes from bad to worse. A woman along Pacifica Avenue contacted police at about 4:30 a.m. concerned for her safety from an ex-boyfriend upset over their recent break-up. Over the phone, he talked about coming to her residence to "end it all." As he walked to the female's house, he was contacted by police who found him in possession of a concealed knife. He was placed on a psychiatric hold and subsequently arrested for alleged criminal threats/intimidation.
Tuesday, Aug. 13
  • Laptop, game console and cell phone stolen in residential break-in reported 7:25 a.m. on the 1400 block of Caroline Street. Entry gained through unlocked window. 
  • Memory fade. A man reported to police at 8 a.m. that he woke up in an unfamiliar vehicle with an open wound on his neck along 1100 Pacific Marina and did not know how he sustained the injury.
  • Money and prescription medications reported stolen during residential burglary reported 11:40 a.m. on the 500 block of Buena Vista Avenue.
  • Grand theft of catalytic converter from vehicle along 1100 Ballena Boulevard reported 7:51 p.m.
Monday, Aug. 12
  • Vehicle reported stolen 11:46 a.m. on the 2900 block of Johnson Avenue. 
  • Unlocked car targeted. Theft from unlocked vehicle reported 1:12 p.m. along 2600 Central Avenue.
  • Two suspects in pipe attack. A male, 21, and a woman, 20, were arrested at 4:15 a.m. on the 100 block of Brush Street for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after reportedly beating an individual with a pipe. The male suspect's charges also included: suspected robbery; and alleged possession of methamphetamine, controlled substances, a stun gun and metal knuckles.
