Police Log: Bar Fight, Stolen Cars, Indecent Exposure, Forgery

To balance out the bad news, several Alameda residents found lost valuables and turned them over to the police department.

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log Oct. 17-21. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

THURSDAY, OCT. 17

Stolen car recovered — A vehicle that had been stolen from a BART parking lot in Oakland was found parked in the 400 block of Willow Street.

Good citizens — Several items that had been lost by their owners in various locations were turned in to Alameda police. They included a wallet, a purse and a bicycle.

ID theft — In separate incidents, residents of Shorepoint Court and Creedon Circle reported being victims of identity theft.

Auto theft — Someone stole a vehicle from the 1300 block of Marina Village Parkway.

FRIDAY, OCT. 18

Auto thefts — In separate incidents, vehicles were reported stolen from the 300 block of Ratto Road and the 1000 block of Broadway.

Child abuse — An Alameda man was arrested on suspicion of child abuse after teachers at a local school reported that a student there was severely bruised.

SATURDAY, OCT. 19

ID theft — Someone used another person's credit card information to buy miscellaneous items and to withdraw cash from a local ATM. In a separate incident, a Bannister Court resident reported being the victim of identity theft.

Forgery — A 33-year-old man was arrested after he altered a cashier's check and deposited it into his account at the Wells Fargo Bank branch at 821 Marina Village Parkway, police said.

SUNDAY, OCT. 20

Auto thefts — Vehicles were reported stolen from the 2400 block of Encinal Avenue, the 2800 block of Seaview Parkway, the 700 block of Santa Clara Avenue and from South Shore Center.

DUI arrest — A 38-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and child endangerment after a collision in the 2400 block of Shoreline Drive about 7:40 p.m.

Indecent exposure — A man exposed himself to a victim on Mecartney Road a little before 9 p.m.

MONDAY, OCT. 21

Battery — A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of battery after knocking another person unconscious during a fight in a Webster Street tavern about 1:30 a.m., police said. The man also had an illegal knife in his possession, police said. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a head injury.

School burglaries — A burglar entered the Children's Learning Center at 1910 Central Ave. through an open window and stole various items. Earlier, someone tried to steal items from a storage shed and a classroom at Island High School.

Vehicle crimes — One vehicle was stolen from the 100 block of Biscay Bay, while another vehicle that had been stolen in Castro Valley was found on the same street. An exterior-mounted spare tire was stolen from a vehicle at South Shore Center and a laptop computer from a vehicle at Mariner Square.

Thefts from vehicles — In separate incidents, fuel and a laptop computer were reported stolen from vehicles.
