Police Log: Burglars Pose as Maintenance Workers, Steal from Bay Farm Island Home

Also stolen in separate incidents: a payroll check, a motorcycle, an identity.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 16

ID theft — Someone used a Gibbons Drive resident's debit card information to make unauthorized purchases.

Petty theft — A payroll check was stolen from a local convalescent hospital by an unknown person. The check was later cashed in Oakland.

Residential burglary — Two people posing as maintenance workers for a homeowners' association gained access to a home on Magnolia Drive by asking one resident if they could inspect for dry rot and use the bathroom. When a second resident arrived home later, she found several valuable items missing from the home.

Vehicle theft — A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and driving without a license after he was stopped by police for riding a motorcycle with no license plate. Police determined the motorcycle had been stolen in Oakland five days earlier.
