Police Log: Robbery Victim Stabbed, Cookie Monster Stolen, Homes Burglarized

Plus stolen cars, arrests for stalking and possession of a large amount of marijuana.

A man leaving work about 1 a.m. Wednesday was stabbed by an unseen assailant as he walked to his vehicle, an Alameda Police Department spokesperson said.

Lt. Jill Ottaviano said the robber approached the victim from the rear in the 2000 block of Lincoln Avenue and demanded his wallet. When the victim tried to flee, the robber grabbed the man from behind and stabbed him in the side.

The injured man drove home to Concord before seeking medical help, Ottaviano said.

MONDAY, DEC. 9

Auto theft — a vehicle was stolen from the 3200 block of Liberty Avenue.

Auto burglaries — Someone cut the convertible top of a vehicle in the 1800 block of Park Street and took two side marker covers. In separate incidents, thieves also broke into vehicles and stole or attempted to steal items in the first block of Chatham Point and the 1900 block of Webster Street.

Auto recovery — A vehicle reported stolen in San Leandro was located by a patrol officer in the 200 block of Central Avenue.

Residential burglary — A burglar entered a home in the 400 block of Whitehall Road by unknown means and stole several pieces of jewelry.

TUESDAY, DEC. 10

Auto theft — Vehicles were reported stolen from the 2200 block of Pacific Avenue, the 1500 block of Court Street and the 1300 block of Pearl Street.

Auto recovery — A vehicle reported stolen in Berkeley was found in the 300 block of Jack London Avenue.

Theft — Envelopes containing checks were stolen from the mailbox of a home on Wexford Place.

The Grinch visits Alameda — A man drove up to a home in the 1100 block of Rosewood Lane in the early morning, stole a giant Cookie Monster holiday decoration from the front yard and drove away.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 11

Residential burglary — A burglar damaged the lock on the front door of an apartment in the 1400 block of Grand Street and stole jewelry.
