Police Log: Stolen Bread Truck, Stolen Copper Pipes, Stolen Cars and a Counterfeit $100 Bill

Criminals also burglarized some Alameda homes.

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log Oct. 10-13. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

THURSDAY, OCT. 10

Vehicle recovery — A bread truck stolen in San Francisco on Oct. 9 was found parked in the 1500 block of Linden Street the following day.

Vehicle theft — A motorcycle was stolen from a parking lot at Pacific Marina.

FRIDAY, OCT. 11

Home burglaries — Someone pried open a glass door on a home in the 2000 block of Cambridge Drive, then made an unsuccessful attempt to force open the wooden front door. In a separate incident in the first block of Maitland Drive, the resident wasn't as fortunate — a burglar did enter the home.

SATURDAY, OCT. 12

Copper theft — A burglar pried open a sliding glass door of an abandoned home on Monterey Circle, then removed copper wiring and pipes from the walls.

Counterfeiting — A person tried to pay for store merchandise at the Chevron station, 1701 Park St., with a counterfeit $100 bill about 11 p.m. The attempt was unsuccessful and the culprit fled, leaving the phony bill and the store merchandise behind.

SUNDAY, OCT. 13

Vehicle thefts — Vehicles were reported stolen from the 1000 block of Broadway (later recovered in Oakland); the 1900 block of Gresham Drive (later recovered on Mariner Square Loop); and the 1200 block of Park Street.

Vehicle break-ins — A juvenile was cited and then released into his mother's custody after he broke windows of three vehicles and stole items inside in the area of Fifth Street and Taylor Drive and on Ballena Boulevard, police said. In other incidents, thefts from vehicles were also reported on Central Avenue, Union Street and Third Street.

Home burglary — One person distracted a Gibbons Drive resident outside her home in mid-afternoon, while two partners in crime entered the woman's house and stole jewelry, police said.
