Police Log: Woman Kicked and Punched During Robbery

Also, a man was attacked by a knife-wielding stranger near the Starbucks on Blanding Avenue.

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log Sept. 12-13. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 12

Stolen vehicle found — A vehicle reported stolen from Oakland was located in the 3000 block of Lincoln Avenue by Alameda police about 10:15 a.m.

Fraud — Thieves posing as landlords talked a Lincoln Avenue tenant into giving them money for a "rent deposit."

Bicycle thefts — An unlocked bike was stolen from the 2300 block of Santa Clara Avenue. In a separate incident, a locked bike was taken from an apartment complex carport in the 2100 block of Clinton Avenue.

Assault — Police arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of assault, threatening death or bodily injury and possession of illegal drugs after an attack in front of the Starbucks at 2671 Blanding Ave. shortly before 9 p.m. Police said the man grabbed another man — someone he didn't know — around the neck and brandished a knife while saying he could kill the victim. The man had a knife and suspected LSD in his possession when arrested, police said.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 13

Drug arrest — Police arrested a 38-year-old woman on suspicion of being under the influence of methamphetamine and probation violations after a report of a suspicious vehicle near the corner of Kofman Parkway and Kofman Court about 3:30 a.m.

Auto theft — A parked car was stolen from the 400 block of Channing Way.

ID theft —Residents of Benton Street, Adams Street and Yorkshire Place reported separately that their credit card information had been used fraudulently to purchase various items.

Strong-arm robbery — Someone pushed a 22-year-old woman to the ground, punched and kicked her repeatedly and stole her large purse about 8:30 p.m. near the corner of Webster Street and Willie Stargell Avenue. Police said the robber fled on foot and was not located, but the bag was recovered. The victim complained of pain but did not go to a hospital, police said. The investigation is continuing.
