Woman Killed After Being Struck by Minivan in Alameda

Officials have not yet released the woman's identity.

A 64-year-old woman was fatally struck by a minivan while crossing a street in Alameda early this morning, a police lieutenant said.

The collision was reported at 4:52 a.m. in the 2200 block of Otis Drive, Alameda police Lt. Jill Ottaviano said. The woman, whose name is not yet being released, was walking from the north curb of Otis Drive across the street toward the South Shore shopping center in an area without a marked crosswalk, Ottaviano said.

She was struck in the far right eastbound lane by the minivan, which had two men inside, according to Ottaviano. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The occupants of the minivan stopped after the collision and are cooperating with investigators, Ottaviano said.
