Police Log: Assault with a Deadly Shoe, Road Rage, IRS Scam

Police also made arrests in a pair of domestic violence incidents.

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log Dec. 14-16. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

SATURDAY, DEC. 14

Assault with a deadly weapon — A suspect struck another person with a high-heeled shoe during an argument in the 1400 block of Webster Street shortly before 2 a.m. The shoe caused visible injury to the victim, police said.

Auto burglary — A thief stole a firearm from a vehicle parked in the 2900 block of Windsor Drive.

Shoplifting arrest — A 56-year-old man was detained by store security personnel about 6 p.m. after he placed several items in his backpack and left the Nob Hill Foods store at 2531 Blanding Ave. without paying for them, police said.

Commercial robbery — Nancy's Salon was robbed at gunpoint. See "Lincoln Avenue Salon Robbed at Gunpoint" for details.

Domestic violence — A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery, public intoxication and brandishing a weapon after he grabbed his wife and brandished a knife at her during an argument, police said. The couple are currently separated, police said.

SUNDAY, DEC. 15

Auto thefts — Vehicles were reported stolen from the 1300 block of Clinton Avenue and the 300 block of Galway Bay.

Road rage — During an argument over a traffic incident at Island Drive and Robert Davey Jr. Drive about 4 p.m., a driver punched a woman in the face and then pushed her into her vehicle.

MONDAY, DEC. 16

Domestic violence — A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery after he punched the woman with whom he lives in the face twice during an argument, police said.

Residential burglary — A burglar removed the back door from an apartment complex in he 2400 block of Central Avenue, but no other doors were tampered with and no losses were reported.

Fraud — A Shoreline Drive resident gave $1,500, via a prepaid debit card, to a caller who falsely claimed to be from the IRS.

Auto burglary — Someone broke into two vehicle on West Tower Avenue by breaking windows and stole items from both.
